Das Projekt mit den Titel "Standardhebung nationaler Schulnetzwerke in Europa" beabsichtigt, einen europaweiten Überblick mit einer Analyse über Schulnetzwerke, welche im Bereich der Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien miteinander vernetzt sind, zu erstellen. Es zielt speziell auf die bildungspolitischen Ziele von Lissabon des Jahres 2000 der Europäischen Union ab, wobei auch erhoben wird ob diese Ziele erreicht wurden beziehungsweise die dafür notwendigen Schritte eingeleitet wurden.

Die 1. Projektphase ist ausschließlich für Erhebungsarbeiten gedacht um einen vergleichenden Überblick über die einzelnen Schulnetzwerke in Europa zu erstellen.

Für die 2. Projektphase ist eine Konferenz geplant, wo Resultate und Ergebnisse der 1. Projektphase präsentiert und analysiert werden. Dabei sollte klar ersichtlich werden, wie es um die einzelnen webbasierten, interaktiven Vernetzungen im Schulbereich steht. Dabei sollte ein umfangreicher Erfahrungs- und Informationsaustausch stattfinden, Verbesserungsvorschläge und Innovationen präsentiert werden sowie wird man bei Bedarf einen Know-how Transfer einleiten.

In der 3. Projektphase wird eine Broschüre mit Überblicks- und Vergleichsanalysen mit allen Ergebnissen und Resultaten von den Erhebungen und der Konferenz herausgeben. Auf einer Projekt - Webseite werden die Ergebnisse und Produkte präsentiert. Die direkten Zielgruppen dieses Projektes sind bildungspolitische Entscheidungsträger, Schulinspektoren, Verwaltungsfachbeamte und Schulleiter. Profitieren wiederum davon sollen Pädagogen und Schüler von den Erkenntnissen. Projektdauer ist ein Jahr.

The project includs different partners from 15 European countries. At first project stage it is planned to draw up a cross-Europe overall view / analysis concerning regional and national SchoolNets which are based on ICT (information- and communication technologies). The basis of project is the pilot “Carinthian Schools to the Net” which will be implemented by the government of Carinthia, department of education. (http://www.ksn.at) At this project all Carinthian schools (primary-, secondary-, vocational-schools) are integrated into the Carinthian Schoolnet. Objective of this project was to connect all Carinthian schools to the World Wide Web as well as to offer school specific contents and software. With modernst infrastructure in the last years there were offered a lot of appliance applications for the pedagogues applications but also for the school administration, like a homogeneous software programme for school administration in Carithia (CITRIX-SOKRATES)

The project purpose in general is to have a clear overview about the standard of regional and national schoolnets in Europe. It should take place an information and experience exchange between the partners and also if needed, a transfer of Know-How. Proposals of improvement should be presented. In scope of all this activities the standard of SchoolNets should improve.

The first project stage will be needed only for doing research and make surveys in the thematic field. For the second project stage a conference in Austria is planned, with the task to present and making analysis of the outputs and results of the first project phase. At this stage all partners will collect all information and the exact standard should be visible how the different web-based, interactive Schoolnets are working. After conference the main task is to write a brochure with all information of the project (Overall view, comparative analysis, results and outputs of the conference). All outputs and products will published at a project website. The project duration is one year. Involved are partners from Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Romania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Norway, Liechtenstein, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Slovakia and Poland.
