How does the course/s in Hamar fit into
your study plan?
Very well. There were two modules of the Årsstudium course, both very useful and interesting: grammar and literature. I feel like I learned a lot during the course, and it complemented my study in Poland very well.

What made you choose to come and study in
Hamar?
I believe it is not possible to learn the language properly without going to the country the language is used at, so I decided to apply for Erasmus program in Norway. I always wanted to live there, even just for a few months. I knew it is going to be an amazing experience, and it really was.

How did you like Hamar?
I loved it! I like small towns and their atmosphere. Hamar is a beautiful place, quiet, clean and friendly. The environment is also amazing. I loved hiking, walking in the forests and resting by the Mjøsa lake. These were the most relaxing few months I had for a long time. Life in a big city in Poland is pretty stressful, so it was really good to take a break from it. Living in Norway is different. People are amazing – very kind, helpful and easy-going. I actually didn´t want to go back home after the semester! I would gladly spend more time there.

How did you like your study in Hamar?
Again, I have nothing to say except superlatives. It was one of the most positive experiences I had in my life in terms of education, and I have studied many things for many years ;) I was impressed by how well all the courses and other things were organised. Everything was clear and well-explained, no confusion at all. And the teachers! I would gladly pack them and take them home with me ;) everyone was super-friendly and helpful. I wish I could study for one more semester. Or ten.

Do you have tips for other students who
want to study in Hamar?
Well, living in Norway is pretty expensive, but there are things that make up for that: first and foremost, Rema 1000 and something that I call „the cheap shelf“ (you must find it on your own!). Also, the flea markets – it is unbelievable how much cool stuff you can find there! Personally, I love books, I am addicted to them, so I loved the little bookstore with used books next to the University. And if you want to taste the big city life, Oslo is only and hour and a half by train from there.

Other things you would like to tell from
your stay in Hamar?
I absolutely adored Fredrik Monsens dorm and all the people living in there. I hope we will be in touch, because I will never forget all the kindness and friendliness I experienced there. Oh, and the University cafeteria – I loved it. Especially the waffles. And the salad bar. |
